NEW BOOTS

Used these boots during my Bison hunt in Delta Junction , AK, October 2013.

I bought a pair of boots for my hunting trip to Alaska.  The boots are "Cabela's Alaska Hunter" by Meindl.  I took an hour long hike in them on Saturday to start breaking them in.  They have a stiffer sole than anything else I own.

Tonight I put a treatment of SNO-SEAL on them for preservation.  I put the SNO-SEAL on the leather uppers and then heated the leather with a hairdryer, which allows the SNO-SEAL to soften and absorb into the leather.

Mike from 70 North Aviation called last night to confirm our departure date of JULY 30th.  We are leaving from an airstrip called Happy Valley, which is located approximately 80 miles south of Deadhorse, AK.

I asked Mike what type of terrain we would be hunting that time of year, he said possibly foothills or otherwise near the rivers/ open tundra!
